first General issues and personal impressions
After 3 weeks left driving in New Zealand we went to Australia as old hands to the left. Did we in New Zealand still quite an old truck available, so we got now a brand-new car, with the driving was great fun.
The signs and the most well-maintained roads facilitate the getting along. We had more problems to come to our hotels, because the documents had been available, designed for a car with GPS system and we were therefore not rational maps were available.
On our previous lines in the other countries, often the way was the goal. Here in Australia we expect are often boring, long drives in a monotonous landscape. The proposed attractions along the way were in some cases as far away from that visit was on time impossible.
On the first beach and the city of Cairns, we were able to familiarize ourselves with the casual nature of Australians. Here we survived the "easy way of life". We fit in all the circumstances and could take it slowly and comfortably.
On our way we passed the most beautiful beaches. But even the most beautiful beach is not interesting at some point, if you had previously visited several coves and there was a clear that the next few days would be back only sea and sand in front of us.
The two highlights in Australia were attending a concert at the Sydney Opera House and a snorkeling adventure on the Great Barrier Reef Knuckelriff. We were impressed by the crew, the beats up there without any great uprising and down stairs, dragged hoisted into the water and tried everything to make snorkeling in the reef for an unforgettable experience. This adventure we will certainly never forget.

After our great and high quality accommodation in New Zealand waiting for us here rather mediocre. The pre-booked hotels were often a hotel chain and less individual. It was there doing fine, but you could see many houses but the "just in just 3 Star Standard".
us was already clear that we would not expect too much luxury here, because the price of the tour we had to pay attention to our budget. The 10 days Sydney to beat most expensive time to travel in a 5-star hotel to book it properly.

internet for our laptop was everywhere. Twice we had to get it for free even if it would have worked every time. Otherwise, before we wrote our reports at the earliest opportunity and bought 1 or 2 hours of internet, to quickly retrieve our mail and update the blog.
third Wheelchair access
in Australia and particularly in Sydney you could tell that was established in the 2000 Paralympics wheelchair access at all. All hotels have rooms with wheelchair wheelchair shower and everywhere there were designated disabled parking spaces, which were in contrast to New Zealand really wide.
Where we have made use of public transport, but they were wheelchair accessible. Ferries, buses and trains were perfect to ride in a wheelchair and on the buses, there were special places that were reserved for wheelchair users.
As already described, Aussies are very casual in dress and manners, which does not mean that they were not disciplined in snakes. This casual treatment was also maintained with respect to wheelchair users. Everywhere it was obvious that we were there and it was easy to talk.
It was not quite so easy to find a remodeled with hand throttle and brake, car, and only possible in relation to the booking of the tour. The Toyota Camry has been provided by the major car rental company Hertz and was available with hand throttle and brake equipped right, the system worked here so that the lever had to be pushed to the front brakes and throttle down. Although this was getting used to, but doable.
